The power of the color Blue!

Normally Michael's doctor's appointments consist of the doctor and I talking rather loudly over M's screams and protests. Maybe he/she will get to look in one ear, more or less watch his eyes follow a light and see him walk/run around the room as he tries to find a way out of it. We've had people come to the door to make sure all is okay as they try and do the pulse ox, blood pressure and ear thermometer because he screams so violently. This is also why we have not had an EEG done in over 2 years.

But not yesterday! He had a room with a BLUE curtain. He loves that color. When he has something blue nearby he usually calms right down and loves on the object. There were a couple protests but no crying or screaming. He loved the pulse ox! We've been practicing with stickers on him so I think he associated it with those. He gave me a hug while they took his temperature so he didn't even have time to protest. He thought the blood pressure cuff was funny, even laughing while it tightened. He couldn't hold still long enough for it to get a good reading though. But he was never disgruntle during it. It did take a little effort to get him to hold still for them to examine his ears but not much. When we needed to move away from the curtain they let him lay on the BLUE exam table without the paper on it. He HATES that paper! He opened his mouth so they could look in but wouldn't keep it open long enough to get a great look at his tonsils. He walked around the room with the doctor, as opposed to bolting for the door.

Overall, a great visit!

The doctor and I were able to talk at normal volume for once, as well! We discussed finally getting M into Speech, OT and PT. For years we've heard that M wouldn't do well because he would be "uncooperative". To most, that seemed crazy. But, without a referral we couldn't get in. We finally have them! But now we are facing a dilemma. M receives 2 hours of speech a month (crazy low time, I know) at his school. Because of this, our insurance company could deny us. We would obviously want the insurance covered therapies because he could get 2-3 hours A WEEK of therapy but we'll have a possible battle on our hands and have to drop his school assistance.

But, since we are the always-look-to-the-bright-side type of family, we're just thrilled to have the referrals in. If it takes us a couple months to get them approved and then another 6-12 months of sitting on a waitlist...then PCS'ing and sitting on ANOTHER waitlist... That's okay! Because we'll get in!

Happy Birthday Michael!

Michael turned FOUR this week! Wow! His first birthday he ate cake but we had to time the day around seizures and he was so groggy I'm not sure he was really a part of it. His second birthday he tried some cupcakes but could have cared less about them and his Daddy was deployed so it just wasn't as fun. His third birthday he wouldn't touch cake or cookies and really just wanted to go play. This year he did great! Cake and cupcakes were both inhaled :) I think his favorite present was actually a previous gift from his Auntie Jenn. He has finally discovered how to build well with the duplo blocks. They have been holding his interest this weekend which is great since it's such a relaxing activity and he has a nasty cold.

His piece of cake at home
On top of his birthday and our usual craziness of school and extracurriculars, we have been trying to settle into an exercise routine. Matt and I both want to lose weight and have been taking evening walks every night. Elizabeth is old enough to stay at home during the hour we're gone but Michael has to tag along. Since we go after dinner, near bedtime, he seems to find it relaxing.

We're back!

We had to take a break from blogging for the summer. It was becoming impossible to do updates regularly during the summer. Elizabeth has been back in school since the beginning of August and Michael started on the 20th. Now that things are getting back into a routine and I'm getting some free time in the morning and early bedtimes for the kids I'm hoping to get back into blogging.

There have been so many changes in the last couple months! Michael's speech is improving. He has added a couple more words to his vocabulary, though it still takes effort to form the word. He is starting to sign a couple words as well. Through ABA he now points to an object he wants instead of reaching or staring and crying at it. He also has more patience when asked to wait or sit.

At the beginning of August Michael had a neurology appointment. The doctors still will not order an EEG because he won't sit nicely through one. We were hoping to get one because he has been seizure free for 2 1/2 years but maybe next time. We did start a new trial of meds. His neuro put him on Celexa. It's an anti depressant but also used to treat OCD. Given Michael's need to order things, stack similar objects, getting stuck running the same routes, they thought it might be OCD. He has been working up to the full dose of Celexa for 5 weeks and just started it on Saturday. We've already seen changes and hope it is the meds. He is no longer picky about food, eating it or touching it. He also plays at the playground without running in routes. He is all over the place! It is great...and now a little nerve racking. He used to just run in the same circle, so I knew where he was at all times and didn't have to worry about him suddenly jumping out the ladder opening or trying to go down the rock wall ledge. Now we have to follow him a little closer...until he learns not to plummet to the ground :)

We received news about a month ago as well that Matt will be going to recruiting school this coming spring. We'll be moving next June/July. We're excited and nervous. It will mean we have to find a new doctor, therapist and school for Michael. I'm trying not to dwell on that part right now. It could be a very exciting PCS and we might end up some place that has even more amazing services for him. Right now though, we just need to focus on this current school year, ABA and Michael's new meds.

I'm sure there are more changes that I have failed to mention. (There have been so many!) I'll try and do better keeping the updates coming.

Just a quick update!

Oh how time flies! Before I know it two weeks have gone by and I haven't updated. Once again I can blame it on Summer.
It is so very hard to sit and blog when all we want to do is play :) And now I have to finish packing for vacation! Matt comes home tomorrow after being gone for 3 weeks and we leave for Texas on Monday! So excited!

Hearing test

Michael had a sedated hearing test on Friday. The audiologist said he can hear fine. Yay. He did have a lot of wax build up which has always been a problem for M. We may have to start going in more frequently to have it drained. But, at least we now know he can hear us, he just isn't understanding us. We have another meeting with his ABA therapist on the 18th and we'll talk with her more about what types of therapies she thinks he might need. Both the audiologist and the ABA therapist think he needs more speech therapy but his pediatricians don't agree.

Michael saying "Ow"

If you listen carefully you'll hear the smacking sound (him clapping, hitting my arm) then the 'Ow ow ow'. While I'm thrilled he makes the sound, I'm hoping he learns to only use it when someone actually gets hurt, not when he hits them and says it :)

A busy few weeks!

Busy Busy! That's us! Not that we're doing anything major but we're just always DOING! Michael has had a couple great weeks of fun and learning.

His first year of Pre-K is done! We're sad because some of his friends won't be there next year. But we're happy because some will and his teachers will be there too. He loved Pre-K! When the year started, Matt and I were nervous about how he would do, how would the teachers handle him, would he even make it through a 2h45m day...? Well he did great. He learned the routine and adapted to his environment. His teachers are AMAZING. They have endless patience. And never once did we receive a phone call sending him home. We cannot wait until next year!!

We had a somewhat scary week during his last week of school though. He stopped eating and drinking for about 3-4 days. On day 3 we took him to the doctors to see if there was anything physically wrong. He wasn't running a fever or showing signs of discomfort but I was actually hoping for a sore throat. The docs could not find anything wrong so they told us to wait it out a couple more days and see. We were able to get some fluids in him through a syringe but that was it. Around the 5th day he started eating. It wasn't much (ice cream, oatmeal) but it was enough. Now he is back to being my normal pig. :) While he wasn't eating he didn't have much energy or strength. He sat. A lot. He did discover his love for 'weeding' though. Of course, he ended up 'weeding' my plants! They could use a little trimming anyway.

I love his interest in lining objects up! It doesn't matter what it is, as long as he notices the objects being similar. Blocks, spice containers, soda cans...and now Kool-Aid!! We let him play like this most of the day before I wanted to actually make some. Out of sight is still out of mind with Michael though. So once they were in the cabinet, he was okay. :)

Water!! Oh how he loves water. He stays in his tub for an hour. He can be content to just have his hand under running water. But a waterpark...? Oh my! We went three times in their opening week. He enjoyed hopping in the water, splashing, floating around hanging onto Mommy and Daddy. He wasn't a fan of the "splash zone" where the children can dump buckets of water on each other or spray them. But he did enjoy going down the mini-water slides! He doesn't freak out when he goes under water but it is still not his favorite. The hardest part is getting his mouth closed. Matt tries to time it and dunk under with him when it's closed. Michael comes up, blinks his eyes, rubs them a little and that's about it. We bought season passes to the local park. Michael and I can hang out in the 2-3 foot end and Liz can wander around the place freely. When Matt is able to come they go down the double slides or the lazy river together.

When we couldn't get to the water park one day because of the rain, Michael did not understand. He tried to go outside and we let him hang out on the front step. He would go out until he got really got rained on. He tried dragging Daddy out too!

Last night was our town's fireworks preview show. Michael saw some fireworks last year and seemed to enjoy them. Or at least, he wasn't upset by them. He just  watched without much reaction. This year was a different story. He was beastly while waiting for them to start. The minute the first went out he was thrilled! He loved the lights. The big booms made him cling to us and giggle. He would bury his head into us but always make sure he could see what was going on. It was a great way to end the last night before Matt left for another TDY (3 weeks this time).

Michael has also learned a word (sound?). He says 'Ow'. He says it when he hits ME though. His hitting isn't to HIT but to make the clap sound. But when he would do it I would say 'ow'. It is adorable watching the build up to the word. Sometimes he mouths the word but nothing comes out. Sometimes he says 'um um om om oh oh OW! OW! OW! OW!'. He has said it a few time when he falls and we say ow. And he will almost always repeat it when we started saying it first. But, its usually followed with a smack since he associates the word with the sound/act of hitting. We'll have to work on that part :) It sounds like he might be learning 'uh oh' as well. He has only done it clearly a few times so it is too soon to tell.
Michael will be starting ABA therapy in the next coming weeks. We're excited to see what he can get out of it!

How they get around at SPED Pre-K now! Love it!!

Michael SHOWED what he wanted!

We've had a couple mellow weeks, soaking up the sun and relaxing. We ♥ summer! Today something great happened! I got a call from M's teacher this morning. M had been wanting to go out onto the playground when it wasn't playground time. He banged and cried at the door, which is normal. He dragged his teacher to the door, also pretty normal. He got frustrated because no one was taking him out. Then he calmed down, walked to the place cards they use (cards with words and pictures indicating things like snack time, circle time, bus time) and he brought her the one with the playground on it. She was so excited and took him out right away. I'm going to have to come up with one for at home, with things like stroller ride, car, playground, food, etc. This is also really making me lean towards the iPad even more for communication.

Our stroller is here!

We got our new stroller today! A Baby Jogger Summit. Check out the pictures here. And even though my mom thinks he looks squished (Love you Mom!) he isn't. We took him to Babies R Us tonight to grab the extra pieces for it and he was able to turn sideways, curl his legs up and relax. We'll be sure to take a lot of pictures for everyone to see. Oh wait...when do we NOT take a lot of pictures? :) Thanks everyone!! We are so excited to have this for Michael (and the rest of us).

TDY is almost done!

TDY is almost done and we're getting excited! Michael played his Daddy Bear a dozen or more times today. He is missing Daddy but has been fairly agreeable this week.

On Sunday he was a big goof in the kitchen.
Figured out the child lock to the snack pantry.
Taking only the blue dishes out of the dishwasher

On Monday we went into the hospital to see Dr H, our developmental pediatrician. He is being diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). For M, that means he has many autistic traits but doesn't meet all the major criteria. But, for insurance purposes, school purposes, he will be considered Autistic. As he grows and develops they will determine whether to call him 'classically autistic' or remove the label altogether.
He was fascinated by this chair. He also held one of the toy dinosaurs in the room. Most of the time was spent curled up on the floor, legs tucked into his shirt with a bag of chips in front of him. Well...that, and crying. He's not a fan of doctor's offices.

On Tuesday he had school. He was Mr. Lovey with his teacher. When I picked him up he noticed me from the end of the hall and tugged on his teacher to walk faster. Finally, he let go and raced to me. I got a lot of kisses while talking to his teachers and walking out.
He seems to have really figured out sunglasses, which is great! Hopefully, he'll figure out summer hats soon! He hates them!
Later in the night we went to his sister's tennis lesson. He isn't too agreeable at these :) I got creative and filled the front tray of his stroller with water. Then I pushed him as far away from everyone as I could and still be able to watch Liz. This entertained him for about 30 minutes. Then he threw tennis balls for me. I was thrilled that he was interacting so well. He was teasing me! Sometimes he'd throw one ball, sometimes both, sometimes at me, sometimes in opposite directions and laugh each time.

Today, Wednesday, we lived outside. M overheats and each summer it takes a long time to get him accustomed to the heat again. I filled his little pool and kept moving the patio table and umbrella to provide as much shade as possible. We are very lucky to have a big tree that shades half our yard. We have no toys over in the sunny half so he is less likely to hang out over there.
We were outside for 4 hours
He was pretty creative with the pool. One of his favorite things was putting mud into it. He would put a handful in then move the water around to watch it disappear. When the water got too muddy we had to dump and add more. He also liked soaking the patio. He would put a hand in the pool and then try and run the handful over to a dry spot. When he thought he had sufficiently soaked an area he would move to another side. After a minute or two he'd turn and see that the first side had dried already. Ohhhhh he got mad! He thought it was fun to soak me too. He liked to drip water on my toes and laugh.
He is also still getting great enjoyment out of the play structure my father brought down to us in Feb. 2011. The same structure Liz had growing up and my sister's two girls. :) Today he played in the tunnel. He is normally on the slides or the big platform and just goes halfway through the tunnel then backs out again. Today he was determined to figure out how to get through it!

M was in bed at about 630 tonight. He was done. Liz was in bed at 630 as well, to read a book. That left it a little lonely out here. Most of this TDY I've had M stay out in the living room with me until he was mostly asleep. Yes, I used my son to keep me company. :) But I just love his snuggles so much I don't like putting him down!!

Saturday, April 28, 2012

We do love our lazy Saturdays! We completed our first week without Daddy by barely leaving the living room. M and I got in some great cuddle time while Liz was watching TV or on the computer.

While Liz and I cleaned up in the living room and vacuumed M got into some mischief. Of course, he didn't view it as that. We don't usually have soda cans in the house so he must have thought these were new toys!
I love his new found interest in lining objects up and organizing. He experienced a bit of frustration a few times during this. He would try and pick them up and only put them in one box. They wouldn't all fit and he didn't think to put them in the other box. He would yell a bit then give up and make a new row. After awhile he lined them up the other direction (bottom left). Then he would take the last one on the right and moved it to the left. Except, every now and then, the cans would roll away. While he was working on this last one, after I finally stopped taking pictures, I cleaned up the cans behind him and put them in the pantry. When he noticed we had another fit to deal with :) I left him 4 cans to play with but they quickly got boring. Later, when Liz and I decided to actually drink a can he got so excited and tried to take it. Now, we can only drink from cups it seems. :)

TDY days 3-5 - Getting By

The last 3 days have been pretty uneventful. Tuesday M had his audiology appointment. To sum it up - He didn't cooperate. We knew he wouldn't so it wasn't much of a surprise. He is now being referred to Nashville's Children's Hospital (Vanderbilt) for a sedated hearing test. Hopefully it won't take long for this appointment to get made. We are anxious to know how well he hears.

My daughter has been home sick for the past two days and will be tomorrow as well. She does not do well with spring pollen season here. Her allergies are awful. We've done a lot of laying around.

Michael has been a lot cuddlier (real word right?) than usual. He has always been a big lovey Mama's boy but even more so now. We think he's clingy because he is missing Daddy. He's been Skyping with him every day. He really loves it. He watches Matt and responds to him. He discovered where the camera is and likes to get really close to it. I think Matt has gotten some good screen shots that I'll grab when he gets home.

Food of the week - Mashed Potatoes! I can mix anything in them (meat, veggies, stuffing...) and he devours it! He gets on these little kicks from time to time. Keeps things interesting!

Survival Mode - TDY day 2

At 7am my alarm and Elizabeth's went off and woke M. Being tired from the night before I hit the snooze once before getting up. By the time I got to M (about 10 minutes later) he was already a bit of a wreck. He was better (since he got a great night's sleep) but crying already. The crying, however, had nothing to do with being sleepy and more to do with being wet and knocking his mattress off his bed again. I guess the diaper trick just wasn't enough but its only the second time in about 1.5 weeks that I've had to change the bedding. Much better than daily!
He was very helpful and removed the sheets before I got there. Less work for Mommy! Notice the wetness going up the back of his shirt? The whole right side of him was soaked. Even though that spot was very wet, the rest of him wasn't, which is an improvement. Normally its a head to toe type of soaking.

After he left the room, still grumpy from his uncomfortable awakening and having to change into clothes immediately (he prefers to be lazy in pajamas) he walked into the living room, right into the nice surprise one of the cats left for us (don't worry, no pictures!)

So today became about just getting through it with as little drama as possible! When his sister left for school he wanted to go out. 8am walk for 20 minutes, stop by the park for an hour and another walk home?? SURE! It was chilly but he wasn't complaining! That's what fleece-lined pants and jackets are for!
He wasn't thrilled with the park swings though. They are higher up than the ones at home so his feet couldn't touch the mulch to stop himself. After a couple pushes he wanted to be done and head back to the slides.
When it was time to go back home he wasn't happy at all. But he was getting to the point where going up the steps seemed to be taking a lot of effort and he only wanted to go down the one slide that was still flooded with water from our weekend rain. He pouted the entire way home.
But it's such a cute pout!!

After we came back home we got Daddy on Skype! Yay! When Matt was deployed last time the biggest reaction we got on skype or the phone was Michael giggling when he heard his Daddy. This time around he is a little more aware. At first, when he heard his voice, he just giggled and ran around. Then Daddy called "go go go" which is what he says when he is chasing Michael around. It triggered an immediate response and Michael ran the circle around our kitchen and living room. He'd stop by the couch and wait to hear the next "go" then run again. After awhile he joined me at the couch to listen to Matt some more. He was playing bashful, smiling but burying his face against me. He'd sneak at peek at Matt now and then and then hide again. Finally he really made some eye contact and started being silly with Daddy. He was copying the motions Matt was making with his mouth, clapping with my assistance while Daddy was. It was great. Then he tried to find Daddy. He kept looking behind the monitor. When the call was over he was a big grump, wanting more time with Daddy.

To calm M, I attempted lunch. Meals are tricky on a good day but on a grumpy day they can be awful. So I just kept trying different things. Cheetos, mashed potatoes and cinnamon rolls with some grape Kool-Aid. If that's what it takes...go for it!
Happy boy now!

There was no nap again today but he did calmly lay in his room for about an hour. It seemed to make him happier, rested. He sat back down at the table for afternoon snack and I gave him the rest of his uneaten Cheetos. Instead of eating them he turned them into a game! I was too thrilled with his deep concentration that I wasn't going to stop him.

He lined them up, sorted them into piles or different bowls and stacked them. It wasn't until now, 2 hours and one outside playtime later, that is he actually eating them.

When his sister got home from school we all went outside. She tried to get some homework done while laying on the grass and M and I played chase. After awhile he needed his sister to help with the game!
Daddy even called while we were outside and got to hear the giggles.

Dinner went off without a hitch. Elizabeth had a lasagna meal she had picked out awhile ago and forgotten about. For Michael I gave him more mashed potatoes and chicken. Neither kid finished their plate so their leftovers were my dinner. Okay, maybe not the healthiest way to go about it but there was no rejection and no fits! He is now calmly running his nighttime laps around the kitchen/dining room and winding down for bed.
He took his meds and got ready for bed like a pro. Here's a picture of the overnight diaper and the plastic undies over them. He looks so thrilled to have them on huh? :) That's Daddy Bear on the dresser. We decided to use it for the bedtime routine since Daddy is working night shift and won't be able to call. So far, so good though. He is quiet in bed, hanging out with his favorite seahorse toy.

Tomorrow should be uneventful. He has school in the AM, a doctors appointment then we'll head to Liz's tennis. Hopefully Sunday was the only crazy day!

Daddy's on TDY - Day 1

Michael's daddy left for TDY (training) for 2 weeks. We had to wake up at 2am to see Matt off and it took Michael awhile to fall back asleep. So between very little sleep, having a cold, and not having his daddy....M had a rough day!

For our first attempt at calming Michael, we put him in the bathtub. It was about 9am and he had already refused breakfast and was a beast. He didn't feel the absence of his daddy yet, since he is usually at work at that hour, but he felt the effects of little sleep and his cold.

But bath was very short. I don't think he even moved from this spot. He had fun putting his hand under the running water then putting it to his face but as soon as the tub was full and the water turned off he cried. He drained the tub and we tried one more time but it was another short lived bath.

Our second attempt was outside play! Yay....usually.

He was pretty grumpy in the yard so I had to carry his crying, pouting self to the park before he realized he still liked the swing. Today's swinging had more of a love-hate feel to it though.

He did recently discover that he can touch the ground now so he loved having me push him then he would stop himself. Then we'd do it again :)

After returning back inside we attempted lunch. At first, I thought he would reject it. I went for a comfort food that is almost never rejected: peaches and strawberries 'n' cream oatmeal. I also made myself a frozen lunch of chicken and potatoes. Because he always loves to surprise me...he ate BOTH! He hasn't eaten much meat in probably a year. It is always nice when we get some in him so I gladly sacrificed my meal.

During lunch he really looked like he was ready to finally pass out.
But of course, that would have been too easy. Instead, we spent the next few hours pouting, crying and fighting sleep. And yes, I said WE. I'm sure I did quite a bit of pouting too.
Does this face not say "I'm exhausted!!"? Sure does! But never once did he sleep.

Liz and I decided to try a car ride since he kept running to the car every time we went outside. It worked! We drove for 90 minutes, with a brief stop to pick up a chocolate banana shake from Sonic for the kids to share. We drove and drove and drove and he never fussed once. We returned home and it was looking promising while I was cooking dinner. The dinner he never ate. The dinner that seemed to remind him that he was cranky.
Oh my poor little bear. He destroyed the shoe rack. He was even laying down with the shoes by the door. He can get a little dramatic at times but it was over the top today. I think at this time of night he was realizing that Daddy had not made an appearance. So I made his medicine and Liz and I put him to bed. We attempted to recreate the bedtime routine that Matt and I usually do. Liz was great. We're very fortunate to have such an amazing, caring daughter. She has her normal disagreeable kid moments but not when it comes to helping with her brother.
Can you tell he is ready to sleep?
Sadly, he didn't seem to know it! It still took about two hours, a stripping act, a poop, the mattress being pushed off the bed a few times, a phone call with Daddy, a lot of crying and cuddling and Daddy Bear (the kids' talking bear with Matt's personal message to them) to get him to sleep.
But he's finally asleep :)  We can only hope that if he gets a normal night sleep he will have a better day...until he realizes he still has 12 more without Daddy.

More Stacking!!

Michael woke this morning, insisted that his plastic diaper be removed immediately, then headed to the floor to build with his blocks. We love his interest in toys now! He still prefers the non-toys (organizing my silverware, looking through different colored objects and running laps around the kitchen/dining room) but he is seeing toys for what their intended purpose is. He gets mighty frustrated when the blocks fall and refuses to play with them for awhile afterward (like they're having a fight!) but he is doing so much better with them!

Mission: Fixing the leaky overnight diaper!

Michael is no where near potty training. Since he learns through observation, potty training is going to be a long road. We sit him on it quite a bit and sometimes, after a long sit, he will actually pee. We cheer, clap, do a little dance and hope he realizes why we're doing it and might repeat it someday. But, again, it will take awhile.
So we've run into the problem of him outgrowing diapers. He wears a size 6 and they do fit great during the day. We change him every few hours. At night we put him in overnight diapers. For the past few months he has woken up SOAKED every morning. I mean, head to toe, all his blankets and bedding. That's a lot of laundry! Every...single...day.
We figured he needed a larger size diaper. Sadly, 6 is as big as they go. We tried pull-ups. Since they are designed for children who, more or less, know how to use the toilet but might have an accident, they do not hold much liquid. (Side note: HE LOVES PULL-UPS! :) Mostly, because he can pull them up and down!) I've been reading online different ideas people have come up for this same problem. (Good to know it is not just us!) Some bought adult diapers but most were too big. Some doubled up on diapers. A couple even put sanitary napkins inside the diaper for extra absorbency. We are trying a different route.

I purchased these Waterproof Training Pants this weekend. Now the size on them says only up to 33 lbs and Michael surpassed that awhile ago. But when Liz and I opened the package in the store they looked huge. Sure enough, they fit great! I remembered trying these with Liz when she was potty training and hated them. I did not enjoy carefully pulling the pee filled plastic diaper down her legs, along with soaking wet undies. Thankfully, she figured out toilet training quickly so I got to throw them out!

But Michael's scenario is different. Since we put these over the diaper and the diaper still traps most of the liquid the Waterproof pants aren't soaked. They are wet but not dripping. Now when we get him up his clothes and bedding are dry! We just have to wipe out the diaper (in the sink or with a wet wipe) and let it dry for the next night. SO much easier then doing a load of laundry.

Now I don't think I'll be getting a picture of him wearing these any time soon unless I take a sleeping picture. They're confusing to him because they make noise. So we slip them onto him after he falls asleep. Yay for having a deep sleeper! We just take off his pants, slip these on, redress him and we're done. Hopefully soon he will keep them on when he is awake. As it is now, we put them on at bedtime then go check on him a few minutes later and his pants and the Waterproof pants are off. At least he leaves his diaper on! :)

Michael's New Table

Michael's Grammy bought him a new table for Easter. He WAS sitting on the bench nicely until his bubble machine got blown over by the nasty wind we're experiencing this weekend. By the time I got over there with my phone to take pictures he was on the table playing with the bubble solution. But he does LOVE the table. He has such a fun backyard. He got some play time in with his sister while Matt and I did some much needed weeding and mulching.

Michael's First School Dance

The kids had their first school dance last night. It was too cute! Michael spent most of the night running around, with a tiny bit of dancing like movements :) He really loved chasing down the balloons that were all over the place. Surprisingly, none popped on him! We really thought he'd get a couple pops since he fell on them, laid on them and kissed them!

Dancing!!
Pretty lights on a BLUE wall! Oh he was SO excited about this
until a group of parents sat in front of them and he couldn't
access them any more.
